When talking about Set Ablaze it is very easy to focus on the negative aspects or the road we have ahead of us to overcome. Very seldom do we take the chance to look back at the last (almost) 2 years and see how far we have come and the ways we have grown!
Queen of Peace Name & Strategic Plan:
The Bishop’s approval of our name and strategic plan was a great boost and win as a part of our pastorate journey. We will be sharing more in the coming weeks about our Strategic Plan.
Sacraments Schedule:
The first and foremost task at hand was scheduling the sacraments such as Mass and Confession. This is an ever evolving task depending on our current situation, however the schedule we created was a win. Being able to offer Confessions at every parish is a big opportunity and we are happy to be able to make this happen.
Taking Care of the Homebound:
A big role in the life of the priest is to visit the sick and care for the homebound. We have done a good job in setting up processes to ensure these parishioners do not get left behind and receive the care and support they need from their parish. This is due to the work of our Outreach Coordinator and those who have volunteered to help with this mission.
Communications:
Since becoming a pastorate we have moved to one unified bulletin and more recently one website for us all. This allows communications to come from one unified source. Prior to these collaborations, it felt like we were spinning in circles trying to make sure everyone knew everything. At times information got missed which led to miscommunication.
Staffing:
An initiative of Set Ablaze is to take off responsibilities from our priests and delegate where necessary. Part of this initiative is to have the correct staff in place to do so. We currently have two of the three positions filled and will start a new search for the remaining position soon. More information to come on that soon.
Events & Community:
One way we have fostered the community of this pastorate is by putting on events. We started smaller with patron feast day celebrations and have grown these events to a weekend retreat and more. We are only just beginning and look forward to offering more opportunities for our pastorate family to ultimately grow closer to Christ and to one another as well.
